Summer is upon us and I’m changing up my makeup accordingly. I’m not a huge makeup wearer, but I do wear it to work most days. I spend the most time taking care of my skin, but I still have unevenness and horrible allergies that cause redness and puffiness.
Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint: I fell for the internet hype surrounding this line and found myself adding some of their products to my cart late one night. I wasn’t that impressed with two of the three products I ordered (the moisturizing primer and balm dot com), but the perfecting skin tint is glorious. It’s light and feels like you’re wearing nothing, yet it packs enough pigment to nicely even out my skin tone and hide my allergy induced redness. However, those who like medium to full coverage will probably not like this. It is somewhat buildable, but only to a point. If I have any problem spots when I wear this, I have to go back in with a separate concealer, but because it’s such a thin, light formula, it looks so much like real skin. It’s the perfect light base to wear in the summer heat. The package instructions indicate that this product is meant to be applied with your hands, but I prefer the look I get when I use a flat top kabuki.
Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper – I am an oily girl. Even in the dead of winter my face turns into an oil slick by the end of the day, so during the summer my not so cute oil slick becomes a veritable lake. I am forever looking for products that will help keep the oilies at bay. The products I try aren’t usually up to the task of keeping my shine down, but this baby puts in a good day’s work (the only other product I’ve found is from Mehron and is intended to be worn under theater makeup, which makes it tough to find). The product description says that it can be worn under or over makeup, but I’ve found that it works best if used as a primer. The two days I attempted to put it over makeup, it kind of turned my foundation into a blurry mess. Worn under makeup, though, it works like a dream. I don’t even have to blot until the early afternoon, which is a record for me for sure.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation – Sometimes I wear this over the skin tint and sometimes I wear this on its own. It doesn’t necessarily have the best oil control compared to other powder foundations that I’ve tried, but the finish is absolutely beautiful. It makes my skin look amazing without any cakiness. Worn on its own, it’s the perfect no foundation foundation. The one drawback of this product is that I think it’s difficult to find the right color. I’ve had friends who have tried this and loved it, but could never find the right match for their skin.
